Should We be Punished for our Actions?

In our society today, we watch crimes on television that have been committed today by human beings. For an example, the tv show Criminal Minds, shows examples of crime that people have committed in the world today. Some people today see crime as entertainment. People that have committed a crime and are sent to jail after they are finished serving their jail time they still tend to commit the crime. If someone has committed a crime as bad as killing someone, I believe they should have to suffer with the death penalty. They need to suffer just how they made the person they kill suffer. The accuser's family should also have to suffer, like the victims family had to suffer. I believe in the statement an eye for an eye and a tooth for a tooth. I also believe that if someone has committed a horrible crime that they need to be locked away from society for good. I do not believe that if you are put into jail, that you should not be able to get out of jail in the shorter that you are suppose to just because you have done good deeds in jail. They could be putting on a show for they people watching them in jail and once they get out, they would go back to doing the same old crime that they did when they got put into jail. I do believe the prisoners should be able to get a job in prison while they are doing their time but should not be allowed to get out any earlier. In the film, White Bear, the main character was the victim but later became the offender at the end of the film. Victoria was involved in the death of a six year old girl but does not remember what she has down. She is refreshed at the beginning of the day but will forget the next morning. I believe that the main character is not learning from her mistake because she is not being tortured for what she has done.

Even though we could say that the family has taught the accuser to be who they are, you cant punish the family for something out of their control. Also, I agree with the fact that jail sentences shouldn't be shorten, some of them are too short to begin with.

I definitely think providing job opportunities for those in jail would be a great idea. It gives those people a chance to stay busy and contribute to society even from in there. For a lot of them, i also think it would give them skills for when they get out and hopefully start them on a better path after their sentence. I also sort of agreed on how the main character did not receive a learning experience from her crime since she is erased of her memory every night and even in the morning she does not understand why she is going through what she is going through.
