Punishment vs. Torture

After watching the film it seems that our society is not far from this type of conflict. The main character (Victoria), who started the film as a victim; consequently, it ended up being the offender. At the beginning, the film is set up in a way where the audience gets to see her (Victoria) as a human being. On the other hand, after the truth is revealed, we understand the reason of her punishment. Is it really a punishment or torture? Today’s technology and social media are the most easy and accessible source when it comes to instant information. Once we post something online whether is for good or for bad, we can’t recover of what was post. For this same reason we must accept the consequences of our actions. At this point, those who knew her horrific actions of her boyfriend towards the child, decided to take revenge on Victoria by allowing her to relive and suffer the same amount of pain and agony as the child did. Is understandable our hate towards Victoria at the end. Once the producer marks the calendar, it stops being a punishment. Whenever someone get punish for a crime, they should definitely pay for it and later get help to rethink and recover in order to continue with their lives. According to the film, the calendar was marked two weeks nonstop of shows. This is what separates torture from punishment. Once someone is punish, they have to live with the constant reminder of their previous actions for life. However, torturing Victoria over and over is totally wrong. She is constantly torture, but she can’t remember that. Even thou they torture the same person physically; her mind is being reset at the end of the day only to redo it again.  I agree if they only did it once because this will mark her for life the consequences of her actions.  Because someone committed a crime, we don’t have the right of making them part of a TV show. Sadly, our society seems to enjoy seeing someone suffering for no reason. These TV shows and movies, portray more and more violence explicitly. We have to be careful with our actions because it reflects a part of who we are on this society. Victoria was guilty in every single count. However, it doesn’t give us the right to torture her over and over again simply because is fun and she deserves it.
