After watching the original catfish story between Yaniv and Megan (Angela), many different thoughts clouded my mind. For one, even though Angela had a pretty miserable life and needed some sort of outlet for her situation, I felt not a single ounce of sympathy for her. Maybe I'm just an insensitive person, but throughout the entire film, I focused on the situation from Nev's point of view. Although, he seemed more optimistic about the situation or whatever, being lied to for eight months by someone I had grown to care very deeply for would pain me a lot. I also felt unsympathetic towards Angela because she spun a web of lies that she had many opportunities to unspin, but she continued to lie. If I were Nev, being lied to that degree, even in person, especially about cancer, would've been a definite sign that this a person to have in my life.
Angela brought so many unnecessary factors into her life, like her daughter and husband. Because of her lies, and the fact this movie was released to the world, this negatively affects the people in her life. Her desperate need to have an alternate lifestyle and creating about 15 different Facebook profiles, altered the lives of everyone she involved. She even went as far to display other people's songs as her own. This, to me, shows clear signs of a mentally disturbed person who needs to work on being comfortable in his/her own skin. Once, again, I may sound insensitive but I feel a person like her knew exactly how to not let the situation get to the point it got to. Instead, her selfishness allowed Nev to develop an emotional connection, and at that point, the situation crossed a line because it affected Nev's feelings.
In the film, it was obvious that Angela's husband, Vince, was oblivious to her actions on social media. Engaging in an online relationship with someone else, physical or not, is just plain wrong. She expressed emotions towards another person outside of her relationship. In my eyes, she broke the vows she made when getting married to Vince. When you choose to commit to someone for life, then there are just certain things that are unacceptable, regardless if it were physical or not. She chose to pursue a romantic involvement with Nev, and at that decision, she cheated in my book. To me, it was also apparent the feelings she possessed for Nev were not the same for her husband. Her relationship with her husband became a burden to her, and because of that, she pursued Nev. Nev took his situation and used it to inspire and reveal that he's not the only person that has been 'catfished.'

Indeed I agree to your blog about Angela's action. She did break the vow that she made with Vince and also dragged her daughter and husband into this complex situation. Not only is she morally wrong, but did some illegal actions such as claiming someone else's song as her and lied about cancer. Cancer is a serious situation and she should not lie about it. I think it is okay for Angela to talk to Nev, but not in a romantic way. They could have just been friends, but discussing about the sexua topic to the optimum level is not only inappropriate but also against her promise to Vince. The person who gets hurt the most is not only Nev, but Vince because he is oblivious.
I agree that engaging in another relationship is wrong. Good points!
