Bucca-near-u, this was a great app, that thought about the
safety of students. What was great is that we got to see a somewhat functioning
app though it would have been nice if we could have downloaded it and seen it
work from our phone, it was still very cool. The group did a great job of
conveying their information, statistic and other facts. The stats on campus
crime levels was disturbing and even though CBU is a relatively safe campus it
does not exempt if from being susceptible to crimes. The group thought about
the safety of other students and created something that I think could be used
on campuses worldwide. With just a changing the setting to where ever you are,
this could be a future feature that you might be able to download different
campuses to the map. I thought the GPS feature was amazing just having the app
on your phone could make you feel safer. Also being able to report crimes anonymously
was also a great feature, simply because you may be frighten of the consequences
or just wanting to help out with our being known. I feel like the interaction
with the campus security is a great feature, but that the email might need 24
hour operation to ensure safety. I feel the group presentation was one of the
best ideas in class it thought about technology, about safety, and about
staying user friendly. The great thing about the app is that it not to
complicated that anyone would be able to use it. In the future I could see the
app evolving to add contacts that could be contacting if the user found themselves
in an unfriendly environment but not a dangerous one that would require police
involvement. The great thing about this is that this is an app that could be
full functional today and could be downloaded and put into affect today. The
main things it need to be fully functional is not a programing that is not available
yet, it is something that could be developed and released today. I truly hope
that on Saturday when this group is giving their presentation that they are
able to have a working app that everyone can try on their phone. I also hope
that they are able to get their message out there and people are able to see
all of the positives that they were able to convey in class. Good luck Guys..
