Wiretap Headphones Review

I absolutely loved Wiretap Headphones. Kudos to the group that created it. This is an awesome device that can serve as the solution to detecting multiple mental ailments that we are dealing with in today’s society, such as depression, anxiety, etc.

Wiretap headphones are headphones that detect beta waves and converts that information into a possible ailment such as a person feeling depressed. It then alerts an emergency contact such as a loved one to report what is going on. This is meant to prevent things such as deep depression and possibly suicide. If a loved one is aware of your condition, they are able to seek help for you or help you themselves.

As stated in the class, technology this advanced is best put in the hands of doctors to distribute, give instructions on how to operate, and give a conclusion as to what the results may mean. I thought this suggestion was a great point because we shouldn’t have laymen diagnosing people as “depressed”. As we all know, any job involving medical diagnosing is a very tedious profession and false diagnostics are a both a big issue and a reality. That’s why I believe it should be open to the public for free-range use. Because e many may unknowingly misuse it. For example, if a parent purchases this device and the device says the child is depressed. The mom may figure, “Well, I know what it is, I don’t need to seek professional help. I will just look up ways to solve this problem.” Then the mom begins to “treat” the problem. Something is obviously wrong with this, she is not licensed or trained in treating any kid of ailment.

Also, mental diagnostics is not an exact science. It does take extensive research and close observation to determine what one is suffering form. That’s why these beta waves should be recorded so a medical professional can look over them and determine what is going on rather than the device offering an ailment. Its fine if the device offers what the ailment may be, but the medical professionals should look into it and not take it as a definitive answer.

The target audience for this device were for mentally troubled patients and I believe it will serve that community well. I can imagine that medical professionals would create different versions of this to detect other types of waves (besides beta waves) to give insight to what may be going wrong with that person. This device has great potential in the world of medicine and, in my opinion, will serve as a catalyst to be able to help many be informed of what they suffer something so they can get treatment for that as soon as possible.
