Safe Sip Review

SafeSip is a device that was designed by the group to detect contaminated water or to see if any alcoholic drink does not have a date rape drug in it to make sure it is safe to drink. The group mentioned how people do not realize how much that they leave their drinks unattended while at a party or social gathering. You could just buy a drink and end up having to go the restroom and leave it where you was at. Your favorite song may come on and you go the dance floor or meet up with some friends that you may see and leave your drink. That is more than enough time for someone to get to your drink and put something in it to be able to take advantage of you. That is why this is a good solution to this problem. I like how it is very small and can be kept on your keychain and will not be hard to lose. I also like that it can tell you the drug that it found because if anything were to happen, the person has proof of what drug it was. I do not know if with the size of the device that it will be able to work properly with detecting chemicals and being able to be charged.
As far as the group using the device to detect contaminated water would not really be beneficial to the people living in the poorer countries that already know that their water is contaminated. But that would be beneficial to people like hikers, missionaries, etc. that travel to other countries and could use the device to see if the water is contaminated before they use or drink it. One student suggested in class that when a person buys the device that they donate the money to helping the people in the poorer countries with the contamination problem. That money could go towards filters to get out the contaminates in the water.
