CBCG: PrepMe - Levels to Learning

After  we chose our groups for this project, I had a feeling that what Michelle's group came up with would be a great idea based on our discussions in class throughout the semester. Crossing Borders Closing Gaps was the exactly that. I felt like the group thought of every aspect of to get their idea to be fully functional for the largest amount of people. PrepMe, the app, would be a great way to provide easy to follow lesson plans for grade school students. Having the information be downloaded already would work around the problem of households not having internet access.  The foundation, Crossing Borders Closing Gaps, would be their way to spread information and raise awareness and funding to spread the use of this technology worldwide. The website they created was also a nice addition to the app and the foundation. Having all of this information in one place makes it more convenient for organizations and companies that want to invest in this software to view everything it will be addressing. When the tablet was first mentioned it made me think of Leap Frog because it is another educational tablet like software, but users have to pay for each lesson plan sold separately from the actual software. This software is taking into account that the families that need this software need a n affordable solution.
This technology also allows the student to feel more comfortable and learn what they need to learn to catch up in the privacy of their own home rather than feeling like they are holding the class back or being a burden to the teacher. It does give the student more responsibility. It would be important that the student has the motivation to complete each lesson they need to no longer be behind in understanding. I think one subject that could be added it art in come capacity. Students could learn about Art History and how that connects other events in history. There could also be lessons on music. Students could learn the basics of reading music, the different genres, and how music has changed throughout the years in response to culture, different movements, and events throughout history. It's important not to forget about the arts.
Overall, this group did a great job by focusing on education and the solution they provided with PrepMe can help a large number of students, decreasing the number of students left behind.
