My thoughts about Leaf

I would like to solute Amy and Wenting for creating a useful app that no one has thought of yet regarding elders. Their app relates to Dementia, which some people may be unaware of what it is. Dementia is when an elderly person has troubles in communication, thinking and memory.  Their app, Leaf (Loving effects a Future), provides many different functions for caregivers or nurses who watch over elderly.  It also includes categories such as a social feature for elders to communicate with other to make friends if they get lonely. I like how they added that into their presentation along with the already many functions its a easy way rather than them having to keep up with a Facebook or any social media. The app have a "contacts" where they keep up with these friends they meet also their relatives which is very easy to use. Medicine part where they can plug in what pill they take, how many times to take it in a day, how many to take at once and along with this is a interesting alert system and so on. The alert system is like a notification on your phone to tell you to take the medicine which is very useful with people who forget easily.
This app is also very helpful, and mainly, for the caregivers part. This helps them to get more organized with ease. Why not we have technology why not use it! The elder could just use the app to help them communicate to their caregiver what their needs may be.
As for their presentation is was very disheartening to hear. The part when they showed a video about a lady who was lonely and just wished she had someone to speak with was a tear jerker. They basically used it to show if she would've had the app then she could connect with others to find things to do to keep her occupied. It never really crossed my mind about getting older and what I would do or how life would be after retiring... I know now after hearing that video I don't want to be lonely. Another feature to the app is a calendar for them to keep up with when they have doctor appointments or events to attend or they could also write notes in the calendar for when they started a certain type of prescription. In conclusion, I personally feel after viewing this presentation that we should stop ignoring elders and pay attention to the ages 60+. This app will eventually help with to keep the population growing and also the lifespan longer.
