Find My Place Review

For the project Find My Place, I felt that the idea was a decent conception for helping homeless people. While it had some flaws in how some parts would play out, these were mainly due to overextension of resources.
The project started out our class presentations on a strong foot with a strong social issue and a feasible solution. They did not try to reinvent the wheel, but instead close the gap between homeless people and others who would want to help them. Addressing that many people did not know who to help, their idea would allow homeless people to directly find shelter and needed items. Donators would be able to directly donate to the foundation, which would be what the foundation would rely on for resources. The city, they predict, would also be able to help fund the project, which is feasible to an extent.
Most of the issues of feasibility are actually fixable, or stem for trying to do too many things that would contradict themselves. The bag of items issue would require a larger facility than just the portrayed design for the kiosk. Is possible for the group to do this too, but not from the same kiosk. Some other small flaws could be fixed with enough planning, like where to locate these kiosks.
Otherwise, the group did a good job of painting the problem and submitting a very feasible solution. Many other projects lacked any real feasibility, and some even did not take into account the issue of money. Much of the project relies on volunteers and donations, but with the intent being to close the need gap, this problem may solve itself. Some physical items, such as bus tickets, would work with the present kiosk layout.
The presentation itself was one of the better ones also. Time was split evenly between explaining the problem and selling their solution. The group addressed the problem with supporting facts that seemed well researched and had supporting definitions, as well as acknowledgement of other existing organizations that they could work with.
In the end the class was very supportive with many suggestions, instead of taking apart the projects, which goes to show that they had a strong foundation of an idea. It seemed that the group was taking these suggestions to heart and thinking of ways to incorporate them. Some of the final projects had much stronger foundation issues, ad if their project had continued they could have incorporated these ideas and would have done well.
