Feedback for "Reel in Support"

First and foremost, I want to say that "Reel In Support" is a great concept, and I love the intentions behind it. Too often on social media we tend to forget about those with mental issues, and we post without second thought, often offending those who are hiding in the shadows. Furthermore, I think a lot of people feel that they have to put on a "face" to blend in with the rest of society. So, the idea of a website just for people who face those type of issues is brilliant. I think that it is a good place for them to vent to others who will understand what they are going through, but I also think that the presence of "the leaders" is a good tradeoff because they can influence the growth and recovery of the users.

However, I do think you all should consider a few suggestions that the class presented. For instance, there should be a way to monitor the site for trolling and abusive language. There just might be cruel people out there who enjoy bringing pain to people who are suicidal or bipolar. Offensive language could send people back or make them snap and harm themselves or others. What's worse than finding an escape from the norms of social media, just for the new outlet to be infiltrated by the same type of people?

Also, I think that there should be some kind of activities available to them on the website so their mind can be focused on other things. Even though they will have people to talk to, sometimes talking about sad issues for too long will depress people even more. So, anything from group projects - making videos or documentaries, creating hypothetical solutions unique to certain mental issues, showcasing their talents and strong suits, will all be beneficial to the users. Too often, people with these issues feel like "patients," but being able to express themselves in a creative manner will make them feel valuable, smart, and important.

Therefore, not only should the leaders be people who specialize in psychology that help them mentally, but maybe you should include art therapists, music therapists, and other people who specialize in certain areas who can also help those who suffer mentally. I think this would be a big help for people who just want to stay online and receive help because many people may not have the funds or the courage to go to anonymous groups.
