A.D.A.P.T. evaluation

Overall I thought this idea was a interesting approach to a controversial topic. The group who presented "ADAPT" did a nice job of conveying all the facts. The group answered all the questions very well. In fact they came up with answers to most of them, without having to change their idea to much. Personally being a visual learner I enjoyed watching the short clips, to learn about depression. Specifically I linked how the group targeted ADAPT to teenagers. Typically when teenagers are going through puberty lots of things change in the brain, eventually evening all chemicals out. I thought the idea of a chat room was a good idea, but to me it seemed a lot like Facebook but in a safer environment. Currently Facebook is challenging problems with teens committing suicide because each teen is talking to each other online saying how much they want to hurt themselves later on some of these people actually commit suicide. I believe this is a crucial question you have to answer in order to get this idea up and moving. Another crucial question is how would you get people to share what they are feeling. Most people when it comes to wearing there feelings on there sleeve don't, but many journal about it. Third if you do take action through the school thats how you get teenagers to sign up why would you want to share your problems online with all your classmates.

I liked the the idea of a report button in order to report who are unsafe. This idea could be taken further if linked to public schools. Say a student says they want to harm themselves online. The school gets a notification from the website, then the school can take action or call to a higher power. I also liked the suggestion of having mentors available through the website. Specifically people who have walked down the path. One of my favorite answers to a question was through the app to be able to send inspirational quotes everyday, like the word of the day. Sometimes a quote can turn a persons whole day around.

Overall the group did a nice job on conveying the message about who they are and what they stand for. I really enjoyed the goal of the project, for the depressed teen to be heard. It doesn't matter if they are anonymous or not as long as they are listened to.
