Welcome Home Presentation Assessment

Homelessness is a major problem in the United States, and it always seems as if their numbers are increasing. In Memphis, you can see homeless people almost on every corner. This obviously warrants a new approach to helping alleviate the problems of homelessness. This is where the new idea of Welcome Home would work.
I think the concept of providing homeless people with a sense of stability in their life of turmoil is a major key for reducing their numbers. I think the group handled their moral issue in a great way. The fact that they completely analyzed their solution, including the costs, showcases how they considered the feasibility of their project.
I think the best aspects of their idea is that homeless people will have a place to stay free of charge, and have multiple opportunities to get back on their feet. They obviously may not grasp all of these opportunities, but they will be present. Also, the fact that building the house was as cheap as eleven thousand dollars, shows how it can easily be done. The houses are not the most luxurious, but they accomplish their mission of providing a safe environment for the people. I think the iPads that they plan to place in the homes would be a great help  in finding jobs as well. It is a nice apllication of technology.
For their project, I think there are a couple easy adjustments that could be made to further refine their concept. I think that extending the stay from thirty days to ninety days would be fairly important. This is especially since they had statistics that showed the average homeless person stays at a shelter for around ninety days. Thirty days might not be a long enough period of time for them to start to get back on their feet. I also believe that suggestions such as drastically improving the questionnaire and removing the single person house from their plans. I think it would be better to allow the homeless people without families to be roommates together. I think this would further increase the need for a thorough questionnaire, because it is necessary for the roommates to be compatible and to make sure that crime would not increase due to having a roommate.
With these three changes, I think their original idea would be further improved. Overall, I think that this presentation was very well done, and the moral issue they plan to solve is very important. Homeless has been an issue of society since ancient times, and it is necessary to always attempt new solutions. I think that this group's plan would be a major step towards mitigating this problem.
