White Bear

The short film White Bear was a very disturbing and interesting film to watch. The film starts out with a young woman waking up with amnesia who from the excessive pills on the ground looks like she tried to kill herself. At this point in the film the audience was just as confused as she was. Then the woman gets up and starts to look around and notices a picture of a little girl who oddly seemed familiar. So the woman leaves her home and goes outside to see that she is a laughing stock and is being followed around by spectators who refuse to help her as she cries for help. Later on in the film it is revealed that the main character in the film tourured the girl in the picture that she thought was her daughter along side her fiancé. When this was revealed I found myself not being as sympathetic to the main character as I was at the beginning but then I realized that if someone kidnaps a girl and tortures them then they are most likely sick. This made me sort of upset because here is another case where the judicial system is keeping someone from getting the help that they need. I think this is because people think that if you send someone to get the mental help that they need, it's seems as if they are taking the easy way out. When in reality the system is just as guilty as the person is.

Morgan, I agree with you. The film was disturbing and eye opening. It wasn't fair how Victoria was treated. She needed help, not humiliation.
