SOS Review
I thought SOS was a very practical and efficient way for people who care about the environment to track their progress of becoming greener. One of the best aspects of the app was how it could tell you how much you have contributed to adding time to the Earth's life. Their research was backed-up well and they knew what they were talking about when they presented. They were very professional and seemed like they truly cared about their project and the environment. The app was well thought out and had many useful tips and links inside. Their idea for the breaker box seemed very efficient but they could have done a better job explaining how it worked. The only other issue I could think of is how they could accurately track how much time you have added to the Earth's life. This is a very good idea but seems as though it could be extremely hard to calculate. I liked the grocery part of the app because it could tell you how to do better and what products were the most eco-friendly. The only problem with that would be having to keep up with which groceries store sold what products and whether they have them in stock or not. The gardening part of the app was also very cool because it gave instructions on how to create certain gardens and also reminded you to water them. The reward system was also a great addition to the app because it give people incentives to work harder to protect the Earth. The presentation that they gave was really inspiring because they talked about how the Earth could be overpopulated in as little as fifty years. They also gave statistics on how much energy we use as Americans compared to the rest of the world and that was definitely eye opening. These stats show how wasteful we are but also can make us want to do better to protect the environment. I think this presentation would definitely inspire a lot of people to get the app but it would be hard to present to more than just a few people at a time. They would need to find some other way to advertise. Altogether, this project was very good and was obviously well though out and presented. This was one of the best presentations I have ever seen. I definitely learned a lot during this presentation.
