Before MTV's Catfish: The TV Show, there was the original documentary called Catfish. This documentary is all about Yaniv Schulman, Nev, who was "catfished", which is what started it all. Nev is the main host for the show Catfish and this experience is what inspired him to make a TV show about it. To begin, Nev started talking to a little girl, Abby, who was an amazing painter. They would send each other messages and he sent her photos and she painted them and sent them back to him. They connected with each other through social media, specifically, Facebook. Through Abby, Nev started chatting with Abby's family and friends. He talked with Abby's Mother, Angela, and her sister, Megan, and father, Vince. He thought the whole family was very nice. Soon, he messaged her sister, Megan, and began chatting with her for a while. They felt a strong connection with each other and continued to text, message, and talk on the phone for months. They even shared many intimate moments electronically. Nev eagerly wanted to meet Megan and her family in person, but there were always excuses on why it could never happen, and they also lived many miles apart from each other. Since Megan is a singer, she posts some of her songs on her Facebook. Nev and his friends listen to her songs and begin to feel suspicious about her. He looked up one of the songs on Youtube and it turned out to be the exact same version and person singing the song, not Megan. She just changed the name of the file and claimed it was hers. She did that for tons of songs. After realizing this, Nev was in disbelief and felt very upset. Soon after, Nev and his friends decided to travel to meet Megan and her family, unannounced. They get to Abby's house and Angela answers the door, extremely shocked to see Nev standing there. The first thing she says is Abby isn't home and Megan lives far away. In the house, they meet Angela and Vince, along with Vince's two twin boys whom are mentally disabled. Eventually, Nev got to meet Abby and she has no idea who he even is and she doesn't even paint... weird. And when he tries to ask Angela about Megan she keeps making up excuses why she isn't there.
Eventually, everything is pieced together and Nev realizes Angela is who he has been talking to for months pretending to be all those people. Angela has been pretending to be Megan and Abby and many different friends of them on Facebook, about 20 different people. Turns out Megan isn't even real. Angela eventually confesses and is very upset, but states she knew it was wrong, but she just didn't want to lose that friendship with Nev. Her life is very rough and she just wanted to do something to fulfill her happiness in some way. But does that justify what she had done to Nev? I think that many people are lonely and want to find friendships online. But I think it is very wrong when you are at a point where you have to pretend to be someone else and constantly lie to keep that identity hidden. And to involve your child in this fake world is awful. Overall, I understand why she did what she did. Her life is not easy and sacrificing her happiness to take care of special children takes a toll on anyone. Just be careful in trusting who you chat with online.

I agree with you, I think she took it way to far by bringing her daughter into it. I also think she went to great lengths to try to make it seem realistic.
I agree that it is highly important for people to be careful with who they chat with online, especially when it gets to involving feelings and emotions. When given the opportunity to confess, she confesses halfway. That's where it seemed to be, I think selfish of her to do so. However, I don't understand why she did what she did because she still had a chance to not do it, but I do sympathize with why she did it.
