Ash, is that really you ?

In the episode "Be Right Back" from the show Black Mirror, we see how one woman deals with the death of her significant other. To cope with the death of her spouse, Ash, she gets sent information of a system that helps communicate with him. This program is designed to respond and act as if they were the deceased by having someone send emails and videos to get a better understanding of how that person was when they were alive. Martha, the widow, did not seem to fond of the idea of using the program at first. She soon found out that she was pregnant and that led her to use it. She began texting the "Ash-like" person and was surprised at how much it actually responded as if it was really him. She became very attached to the idea of texting him which led to an even bigger discovery. She could actually get a human-like android to like identical and portray the actual Ash. But would this humanoid actually be Ash ?

Martha was sent a package and soon "Ash 2.0" was born. Martha thought that he would be the exact same as the original Ash but she soon noticed that it was not the case. Although he seemed to have some aspect of who Ash was, Ash 2.0 did not contain every memory or every characteristic that the first one did. Sometimes he would do things that the original Ash would not. For example, he dismissed a song that Ash actually liked and he really did not have an emotional connection. Martha expressed how the real Ash would have argued with her when she was telling Ash 2 to hit her. She told Ash 2 to jump off a cliff which he was willing to do and it was unlike anything Ash would have done. There were many hints throughout this episode that displayed Ash 2 from being the opposite of the original. Although this helped her cope in the beginning, she began to feel how absent a lot of things Ash possessed could not be found in Ash 2. I personally do not think Ash and Ash 2 are the same from a physical and behavioral point of view.
