cASH me outside, when i come back.
As Be Right Back unfolds we are given a story line in which technology has pioneered various programs, such as the computer that Martha uses to communicate to Ash with. This computer uses various social media sources to present itself as Ash to Martha. When Martha first gets in contact with Ash#2 she is taken aback by how realistic the responses are. This is quite scary, because all it took were posts from social media statuses. Its scary to say that something like a computer that isn't living can become just as authentic as a living human being. With the addition of a few more pictures and videos within the program's grasp, it was able to call and even appear in human form. This human form is where I believe Martha went wrong. Wanting to talk to the father of your future child is understandable. Wanting to have such a burden lifted off your chest makes sense, and wanting to have a genuine response from the father is also something that you may deserve. Although the response from computer Ash isn't genuine, like ours (human responses) are, it has an element to it that makes it genuine, because Ash #2 has to analyze what she is saying to him. When she begin to talk to him is where is crosses the line. Talking to Ash#2 is wrong. its wrong because she talks to Ash #2 as if he were Ash#1, she even goes as far to have a "date" with him. When she goes to the grassy area and talks to Ash #2 about the things that she did with Ash#1 in the past over the phone, she is reminiscing but this time is intimate because its just her and him(on the phone) and no one else is there. The grassy area also has a significant meaning to her and Ash#1.This "date" that she is having with Ash #2 is wrong. She is projecting Ash #1 onto Ash#2, which is wrong because its not right to replace a human person with something that is calculated and precise, like a computer. Ultimately Ash#2 ends up taking the place of Ash #1. A good example of how technology can only mimic and calculate so much is when Martha decides that she can no longer deal with Ash #2 and tells him to jump off the cliff, and she becomes infuriated due to the fact that he doesn't fight back to keep his life.He is confused in the beginning but after she says that Ash #1 would have fought for his life is where the inauthenticity shows, because he was given a hint that helped him react the way he should have. If it was not for her saying that, he wouldn't have acted like Ash#1 successfully. This goes to show that even with high end technology, it can replace only so much before we point out flaws and become disgusted with it, therefore proving the uncanny valley to be true.

I thought your title was very funny and clever. I also agree that "Be Right Back" proves the uncanny valley.
I have to agree with Eduardo, your title was unique. I also agree with you considering how most of the class freaked when they saw Ash2 and the way he arrived in that box. As you said, the film truly proved does prove the Uncanny Valley.
LOve your title!! It is part of the Uncanny Valley because he was clearly not human and he came out of a box.. it creeped me out when they used electrolytes to make him "real".. he was not real
I laughed at your title for maybe 2 minutes straight! But yes, I agree with everything you said. Technology can't succeed in something like this because it doesn't know how to NOT BE perfectly wired.
