White Bear - The Inhuman Prison Justice System

In the short film "White Bear" an episode of the show Black Mirrors, a woman is incarcerated in what seems to be a theme park for people who want to torture her. This system to me seems like a very messed up way of prison justice. Many people believe prison justice is a great thing. In which prisoners beat and torture people in prison who have worse offenses than others. Most people that are affected by prison justice are people that are rapists or sexual offenders or people that beat or murder children. Victoria, the main character of this episode would have fallen in this system of prison justice as she recorded a child being tortured and killed. In prison this woman would have received possibly as much torture as she did in the "White Bear Detainment Facility".

The episode begins with the woman waking up not remembering anything and then walking outside to see is she can find anyone around the city. She sees people in the windows and screams for their help before being chased through the city and eventually into the woods watching people "die" and get extremely hurt while bystanders record her plight. The episode climax's as the go to shut off one of the cell phone towers and the audience and Victoria learns what is actually going on and that she recorded and let a child be tortured and burned alive.

We then learn after the credits that all of the bystanders are in on the torturing of Victoria and that the civilians treat it as a family outing or a theme park. This is not the kind of justice that Victoria should be facing. She should have been put in prison and at most, dealt with prison justice in which she was beat by the other prisoners until she either took her life, or was sentenced to death. The only reasoning behind the idea that they would make a "theme park" around her punishment is maybe that this episode takes place outside of America and possibly they do not have a death penalty in place.

I believe this kind of justice is completely inhuman and immoral and that this kind of punishment would only be enjoyed by very messed up individuals in the first place. You do not take your family or girlfriend/boyfriend to a theme park to torture a woman because it is a fun outing or thing to do. Knowing how torturing terrorists affects our military and how they are trained to do this and are torturing people who have the potential to kill thousands of people, and how they still have PTSD and problems with hurting terrorists, makes me think, that no average human, could just watch a woman being tortured for fun.
