Catfish or Ugly Fish???
I
had seen the show catfishing before, but I had never really seen the original
movie/ documentary. It baffled me how far people are willing to go to trick
others. If I would have been Nev, the protagonist in the documentary, I would
have become extremely enraged at Angela for doing something like that. If it
were me being “Catfished”, I don’t think I could have forgiven her, as Nev did.
In the beginning Nev did seem mad, but he went on to forgive Angela, because it
seemed that her life was not as great as other peoples. Either way, it turned
out at the end that most of the things that Angela told Nev were lies. The thing
that Angela did, which to me was the point where she crossed the line is when
she told Nev that she had cancer. Like who has the audacity to tell a lie about
them selves like that. Cancer is nothing to joke about, and to go on and lie
that you have cancer is just something that you don’t do. Catfishing is a truly
horrible thing to do, I mean I understand why some people would do it, but they
must understand that they are going to hurt the person that they are talking
about more than themselves. Catfishing wasn’t a new term to me, I had been hearing
the word passed around among us ever since I was a child in elementary. It was
something that you hope will never happen to you, because it’s a horrible
feeling when you find out that the person you’ve been talking to for weeks or
sometimes even months turns out to be a completely different person. Some
people never find out that they have been catfished because unlike Nev, they don’t
track done the person they’ve been texting or calling. Most of the catfishing
issues are due to the internet, and how people can take someone else’s
identity. It is scary I know, right now there could be another account under
another name but with all your pictures. Creepy, I know. It creeps me out even
more that there are people out there that will do such things, they must be desperate
for attention or have some type of mental illness. It is sad what happened to
Nev, but I mean at least he found out that he was being catfished. Imagine if
he would have lived the rest of his life loving someone that wasn’t even real.

What kind of person would you have to be to claim you have cancer, just out of the blue too? It's safe to say we hold the same opinion regarding her statements. I really don't like how she took the relationship and ran with it, instead of realizing what she is doing could be harmful.
