The Real Megan

It is scary to think that catfishing is real. You could be a victim of being catfish or being the person to catfish someone else. However, it seems like it has become a normal thing now since people know about it and are not really doing anything against it. People now seem to want to get caught being catfished. I remember that when I first started using social media like Facebook, my mom would tell me to not accept people who I didn’t know and just accept the ones that I did. I see why she said those things to me, and it is because you don’t know who is behind a computer. You don’t really know who are talking to.
To me, since the beginning, it was a little sketchy to see that this little girl saw this picture on the newspaper and decided to draw it. I mean it is possible, but kids in this generation do not actually pick up a newspaper and look at it. When Nev first spoke to Abby, Angela’s daughter, you could clearly see that Abby didn’t want to talk to Nev by the tone of her voice. I feel like if you are talking to someone you really admire, then you would be more excited to talk to that person. “Abby” was apparently a fan of Nev’s work if she continued to draw pictures that Nev send her, but she didn’t sound excited to talk to Nev at all.  Also, when Nev, his brother, and friend got to “Megan’s” house, and met Angela, she was a little too touchy. She kept hugging Nev like she couldn’t believe he was there. It seems like she didn’t want to let him go. I should have noticed in that moment that she was Megan.
I felt bad for Angela when we saw how her life was. She didn’t look so happy about the life that she had. Maybe that’s why she decided to create this whole new person online. She said that she gave up on her dream of being a dancer and decided to take care of her husband’s children, who were sick and needed a lot of attention. However, my sympathy for Angela was gone when she involved her little girl into her lie. One thing is for you to lie to someone and another is bringing your own kids into your lie and making them also lie.  Another thing that got to me was when she lied about having cancer. You do not lie about having this terrible disease just to get sympathy from someone. That’s just a no.
However, I am amazed in how Angela made so many different profiles for different people just to make her show real. Also buying multiple phones just to talk to that Nev but as a different people. I think that was a little overboard. Additionally, I am amazed how calm Nev reacted when he went to the house and met Angela. He was so nice to her, who did not deserve that reaction at all. Angela had been lying to Nev for like eight months and making Nev fall in love with this “Megan”. If that was me in his shoes, I would have been pissed and wouldn’t be as nice as Nev was.
I wonderful how she expected everything to end? Did she really expect for Nev to not go and look for her? Would she eventually tell the true? How far was she willing to go?

I'm conflicted on how to feel about how she pulled Abby into it. On one hand, Abby was totally being used by her mom, but on the other hand she was completely oblivious to it. It didn't seem like it affected her, so while I think it's still an immoral thing to do, did it really cause any damage (to Abby, of course; obviously it hurt Nev).
