Two Worlds

Two Worlds

You never know on what to expect when it comes to term of catfish. Whether your the victim or the cause of the situation. Catfishing is a serious thing that no one should ever experience because you have your heart, belief, and trust into this one person. You feel they will be there for you when at the end, it was all a lie. Once you've opened yourself to someone, your vulnerable. You feel the person you opened your heart to with some real and raw personal things about yourself would be reciprocal, but instead is the actual opposite. This is the position that Nev was in.

Catfish, the movie, involves a male named Nev who is messaging and talking to a female who he met on Facebook. Her name is Angela. But, she posed as more than one person to make it more realistic for Nev. As Nev is talking and in communication with Angela, he is being pulled more and more into her lie. As he's talking to her, he's recording the whole process between the two of them. As time is going by, Nev is starting to pick up little things from her that aren't making sense. Finally, he takes a chance to fly out where she is just to see that the truth was a lie after all.

Nev did not deserve all of what he went through. He opened his self up to this person. That is not a very easy decision to do. Catfishing can cause to hurt others. Sometimes even the person who is causing someone else's pain, they are in pain just as well. But, even if they are, that does not give them the choice to hurt another human being just because their in pain. That's just not right. Social Media can be such a dangerous thing to use when your not careful with what your doing on there. Like for example, there is a quote that is said almost all the time about the internet, " Once it's out there, it stays out there forever. "

In my opinion, honestly, even though it was an act being put on another person, both were suffering. Nev was hurting and in a way so was Angela. I feel the way she handled it wasn't the best way but I think she understands what she did was wrong and has learned from her mistakes and changed for the better.

You're right Nev didn't deserve it. I'm sure he learned his lesson too, and I'm also sure he had a hard time opening up to people for a while. But, I don't think Angela suffered as much because she just wanted to be friends. At the end of the reveal she didn't seem worried, she was pretty chill about the whole situation.

I agree that Nev did not deserve this and not putting yourself out there in these situations makes you vulnerable. At the same time though, I think you need to help yourself and not get so attached to something when you haven't even seen or talked to them in person.
