In the Netflix series, "Black Mirror", the episode "White Bear", shows examples how technology plays a role on how we can manipulate people in our society in a negative way. In this episode, The main character wakes up in a place and does not remember who she is or anything about her life. She is surrounded by pictures of a small girl, who she believes is her daughter. The people that are surrounding her are controlled by a TV screen and all they can do is record everything off of there mobile devices. The story continues with her meeting up with a person who is not effected by the TV screen and she begins to help the main character Victoria. These two characters are running away from masked people who are out to kill them to entertain the film recorders. All these events play out and Victoria becomes to a close to death experience. By the end of the episode, the truth is revealed, and Victoria is shown how she was being punished for kidnapping a child. Victoria went through the same type of torture and punishments that the kidnapped child went through.
My opinion on this episode was that they took this punishment way to far. This is a form of cruel and unusual type of punishment. I do believe that Victoria does need to face some sort of punishment or need to be shown what she did wrong. For her to help kidnap a child and let her be treated in such an awful way, he most be mentally unstable. The real problem I see in this, is how people use this as a form of entertainment. This episode was hard to watch and I would not go and be apart of this for fun. This episode shows how society is so cut up in the forms of entertainment, they are not taking a step back to see what is really wrong-minded about the situation.
