A Broken Mask
It’s crazy, isn’t it? In this life, you have so many choices and the one that stands out is to have fun. And fun can be your definition or somebody else’s definition but in all, we know what fun is. The way to distract yourself from the present and have a little joy with the time wasting. Fun for a normal person could be hanging out with people, Fun for a sadistic person would be those moments in seeing the pain in other people’s or fun for a lonely person would be the isolation from society and believing that they are the only intelligent being that is cursed because they are surrounded by idiots. Yet Fun is fun. Now this person [*I think it’s Angela (Megan)] in Catfish has her own way of having fun.
Let’s analyze the motives of her actions. She made an entire life, no… she has made an entire world out of other people’s pictures and this ensnared Neive. From this, we concluded that she isn’t the only one. People like that create a new person so they can roam freely around this virtual world. It’s not something to be surprised because everyone has the power to do it at any time. We just choose not to because we don’t see the benefits that could come from doing such. I bet that she did this from just boredom since her life is more like a cage than a house. Her boys are a little special and from the video, we noticed that she is the only that pays attention to them because we can see that the husband is oblivious to a lot of things.
The World is strange and it’s not simple. We come to live in it and die, but whatever you do in between is your choice because you decide how to live life. I hate to think that way, we live to die but what can you do? You can’t do anything about death and if you could then why? I get these moments because I really like to ponder deep within thoughts. The class discussion that we have are a lot more interesting than my other classes because I get to reflect on the possible ways I can think of life now. And now with the topic of catfish. I begin to see that we are all trying to do something like it.
What I got out of the discussion is that we try to portray ourselves in a way that people would accept us while they do the same thing. After a while, you start to show the real colors that makeup who you are. Like slowly taking that mask off. Yes, I used to think that we all wear masks because we know that people would be judging us from where we stand on some matters. I don’t like to say this but I every day that I wake up; I like to watch people, it’s more entertaining than the zoo and less dangerous too. I would like to understand what’s going on with people because I see everything in fairness, especially eye for an eye.
Pay attention. I have been so nice with people in the beginning because that’s how you’re supposed to act. So, I act accordingly, and I have found some friends that are excellent people to study. I got attached to them so I would not dare put them in jeopardy or try to hurt them in any way psychological. I try to see a lot of their behaviors because all of them are not actually who they are. When I get on a one on one conversation with them, I get to see them from another point of view. I could be what you call a manipulator, but I don’t do it often anymore since there’s nothing to gain from them other than information.
This is like the doings of our little small catfish girl. She likes to talk to Nev and accidentally made him fall a little in love. She didn’t know how to stop the coming motion and decided to play along to an extent because in the back of her mind she knew that it’s impossible for Nev to come visit since he lived in New York. I sympathize on the grounds of curiosity, but I will not empathize on how far she went. This woman knows doings, especially since she’s been doing this over and over with other people. I find her a little more of a liar than a trustworthy person because of the other lies such as leukemia and the art gallery, then the onslaught of trying to keep all lies together so he wouldn’t find out.
I don’t like catfishes. These people who steal memories and use another name have more of a twisted motive. These people are bored. These people like to lead people on and make them suffer from afar. And these people don’t know how to make it stop, so I beg someone to tell me if they can find a positive motive to catfish someone. But I don't hate them. I just everyone to use something else rather than someone else.
