Living a Nightmare Everyday

Based on the film White Bear, their society does not seem to know the difference between justice and torture.  It is difficult to decide if what was done to her is moral or immoral.  In some cases it seems to be moral but the more I think about it I change my mind.  The idea of the torture being done to her only once seems good enough for what she did but everyday is just too much.  One thing for sure is that I do not believe it is moral to create a society where the people sit there and watch someone who committed a crime be tortured everyday for who knows how long.  What is the difference between what she did than what the people are doing to her.  She has no recollection of her memories whatsoever, she does get flashbacks here and there but she is confused.  It also seems as if the people watching her were getting pleasure out of it as she was when she filmed the little girl being tortured, burned, and buried.  Instead of feeling bad for her they stood there recording and taking pictures, it reminded me of the media now a days, they always talk about how they want to help but all they do is talk smack on media, upload, share, and criticize.  Back in the day people attended lynchings with their kids wearing their finest clothes, for what? To get pleasure and excitement watching it.  They are teaching the children that that is the right thing to do when someone commits a crime, punish them for the rest of their lives for it, make them relive it every single day but do not tell them what they did wrong until they have been sufficiently tortured to the point they are about to break.  It may be that this torturous act was created in order to have a less violent society, think about it, if people see that this is what is done to people who commit terrible crime than they will most likely think twice before doing something like that.  In one of the scenes the girl that was helping her said flashing lights appeared on tv and people were hypnotized/memorized.  My intake of this is that people are misconceived and believe everything they see on media, hypnotizing them.  She also said their phones were dangerous and not to look at them,  phones and social media can be very troubling destroying people's self-esteem, relationships, etc.

I agree that their society in "White Bear" doesn't seem to know the difference between justice and torture. Maybe our own society is heading in this direction also. Since the majority of our prisoners are in for non-violent crimes, they receive little to no rehabilitation, and most of them end up back in prison once released it appears to me that something is wrong and not working. Our justice system is not working for society and ruins the lives of many people.

Maybe you're right. There may be a bit of bigger message when she spoke of phone being evil or hypnotizing. That could potentially speak to the addiction crisis we as consumers are facing when it comes to technology such as cell phones and social media.
