Is the Uncanny valley necessary?

In the film, he speaks about the uncanny valley and the growth to make robotics and animations more realistic. But do they honestly have to be a close resemblance to humanity? In the movie Shrek he spoke of how there were children who cried because Princess Fiona was a little too realistic for them. This is an example on how this could actually be a bad thing. Do you want to continue to further technology where children are unaware between real and fake. Scientists are always researching to create better robots. Robots that are both smart and have human traits. Is it really a benefit to have a robot that appears to be human but in actuality it is not. Some may feel that human-like robots are a benefit, then I am sure that these individuals are also huge fans of the Terminator, Inspector Gadget, and Cyborg. In my personal opinion, I feel like the only way to have a true human-like robot is if the robot itself is human in some way. With that being said then,  I'm sure scientists have come up with ways or will come up with ways where robots will have their own type of artificial brain activity and traits that resemble having a heart. Then that's when robotics will have gone too far, but even then there will be individuals who would actually agree that this is actually okay. Did you watch Irobot? If so, then you can understand my resistance. Will Smith understood and he tried to tell everyone but they didn't believe him. They thought change was good. Some change is good somethings need to not be changed. One robot gained human abilities such as compassion, reason, and regret. And the hard drive that was to control all the robots also gained reason, and the ability to think as a person. This caused a huge uproar. And a war with technology is a war to worry about. So are advanced human-like robotics actually necessary. In my opinion as well as Will Smith’s opinion, there are some things that just shouldn’t happen. In this particular case, giving robots human-like traits can be very risky. Is that a chance that you want to take? We know humans and the way they think but understanding robots and there impeccable strength and lack of of remorse is not something I want to experience. But I cant speak for you.  I can only speak for myself. 😊
