Is this justice?

The idea of having a "White Bear Justice Park" in today's society is not very realistic. However, if it were to actually happen there are some issues that need to be addressed. Is this form of punishment too far? Is she paying the right price for what she did? Could there be another way to punish her without going that far? The issue I have with the punishment is the fact that they erase her memory every day. There is no way that her brain can handle that much trauma. She lives the exact same scenario over and over again, and each day is a new crowd. The metaphor they used in the movie is extremely accurate. Its like she is a lion in the zoo and she's putting on a show for the crowd. In my opinion, punishment for this type of crime would include mental help, as well as a physical punishment. I do not think the physical punishment should include that high caliber of damage to the brain. It is also important to address the people who put on the show at White Bear. That is not the kind of job that any person can have. I definitely could not do that for a living, because I do not fully agree with the way the punish criminals. They take it a little too far by wearing masks and costumes and having abnormal weapons. It surprised me that she did the exact same thing every single day. You would think after a while she would try a different route or do something different somewhere down the road. I would be interested to see how the staff of the park would react to something playing out differently. Do they have back up plans? Do they just improvise in a situation like that? If something like this were to ever come about in today's society would people attend and get as into it as they do in the movie? There are so many different types of people in the world I think that there would be people both for it and against it. If this were to come about in the future I could see this form of punishment for terrorists, or major criminals, but not any ole murderer. However, it will be a while before our government allows this kind of punishment, if ever. We are already hesitant to the death penalty, so something like this would not boil over well in a world like today.

I agree that it would be difficult to create a "White Bear Justice Park" in our society. We are pretty soft as a society so this definitely would not go over well with very many people. This form of punishment is much too severe, mostly due to the fact that it is repeated over and over again. I am not for this form of punishment by any means, but I would be more for it if it was only done once instead of being repeated. I also am unsure of how many people would want to spectate/participate in something like this. The people in the film were very enthusiastic but it's hard for me to imagine people having that much fun being a part of something like this
Everything is good if they only did it once. Is amazing how we enjoy seeing someone suffers. At this point, I have my doubts, if they are more people like her suffering this type of punishment? Well, we will never know. Once we punish someone, we need to make sure they are conscious and erasing their memories is just resetting the whole process without them knowing. By doing this, is simply using them in order to be famous or worst, make a profit out of them.
I think it would impossible for this type of punishment to be allow. True that there will be some who will commit heinous crimes, but doing heinous punishments in return is not the way for me. If that sort of theme park is created, then the people are approving the use of torture and if they do enjoy watching this sort of things then there's no line that differs the criminals from them.
I find it hard as well to think of a park like that in today's society. The punishment there doing too Victoria is abominable and would be unacceptable in our society.

I do agree that I could not live with this job knowing that the person I am torturing is having their memory wiped out every single day. After so many times, making someone relive the same torture as if they never lived through it the day before is pointless because they never become fully aware of the crime or wrongdoing they have committed. I do not think there is such thing as "any ole murderer" because you have to think about if that was your family member, best friend, spouse, or whoever is closest to you. You would want that person to be tortured to the fullest extent. I definitely think people in today's society would participate just like the bystanders did in the movie. Honestly, I think the people in our society would get much more involved with the criminal and throw things at them and possibly cause harm to them, because we live in a world where we are desensitized to violence or violent acts. I cannot say if the way they tortured Victoria was too extreme because I am not aware of the dynamic of her personal situation with her boyfriend; however, if this kind of park were introduced into the world, I think people would jump at the chance to participate.
I believe that this type of punishment would be more acceptable in our society if a few changes were made to it. I think that constantly swiping her mind of her punishment will not allow her to learn from her mistakes. I think you should only put criminals through this type of punishment once so they can truly reflect on their actions. I also agree with the fact that only major crimes and captured terrorist should receive this punishment.
I liked your post! I completely agree with the fact that the punishment they subjected her to had no way of reforming her behavior. I think it became unjust once she was put "on stage" for everyone to witness her torture and it became more of a spectacle than a lesson to people attending the park. Again, our ideas are similar in that thinking if this park actually did exist in today's society, people would line up to get in.

I completely agree about the mental aspect of your blog. Erasing her mind everyday would have to have to cause some damage to her brain, I do not see how it could not. I also agree that I would like to know if something went wrong do the workers have a back up plan. One day she might escape and who knows what would happen next.
