"Be Right Back" is what I am choosing to write this blog about. Based off my title ,you can see how I generally feel about the situation going on in this short film. I will certainly elaborate to tell you how I came to this conclusion about the short film. Martha was grieving because her husband died unexpectedly. She soon begins talking to a robot him or Ash2. On the outside it seems like this is helping her get out of her sad grieving phase every thing's good, but ultimately its weakening her with false hope.
In my mind, I thought her talking to Ash2was slightly weird, but I was like whatever it just a phone conversation and that's all.I felt she could at any moment end the phone conversation forever, and never talk to Ash2 again once she gets out of her phase of missing him and being lonely. Now the part that just takes it too far and I had to pause and say, "This woman is crazy as h*ll" is when she opened the box of body parts. That scene is why I chose the title of this blog to be "Taking It TOO Far." At that moment she lost total control of the situation. I knew this forced human to robot connection was not going to end well for her. I honestly thought he would kill her. I do not know why I just was so creeped out at this point. Martha was trying to live a normal life with a robot. Whether you say Ash2 had human feelings at one point or was actually human. He was not genetically created he was a replica of someone else. Martha was spiraling down a dark path during this movie. She literally tried to bring her dead husband back and carry out their ended relationship. She wanted him to react to situations like Ash,but he did not know how. Martha really was at a point of delusion. It is just impossible to bring dead one back in and she had to learn that the creepy, technological way.
On a side note, Martha kept Ash2 in the attic after he begged to stay alive. If she felt he was more than a robot from being scared of death, why keep a "human" in an attic? Being kept in an attic,in my opinion is not much better than making Ash2 jump from a cliff. How would you feel if you were kept away in an attic and occasionally had company?

I agree that she took it to far when she ordered the robot that looked just like Ash. She wanted him to have feelings and emotions like Ash1 but Ash2 couldn't because he was just a robot based off of Ash1 emails and text messages. I think another sign in the movie that made me think she was taking it too far with this technology was when she dropped her phone at the doctor's office and she started freaking out because she was not able to talk to Ash. I just think that this kind of technology should not be created because a lot of people will become dependent on it and will not live a healthy life.
In my opinion, I believe that Martha had decided to keep Ash 2 in the attic to prevent herself from further developing some type of unhealthy grieving by keeping him with her at all times; furthermore, she understood that Ash 2 was only made to help with her grieving process, not to form a part of the rest of her life. However, Ash 2 did not only have resemblance to Ash 1, but also he had experiences of himself. This may have been a reason why Martha kept him on in the attic.
Having a conversation with a deceased love one via email, text, phone calls, etc. can be seen as a bit much; but since she is grieving, this form of re-connection could of helped her to move on. Once she decided to take it to another level, that is when she completely crossed the line. I agree with you on this issue 100%! She became delusional the more she put herself into ASH2. Relating to your side note, the attic situation is conflicting- I believe that just as ASH1's mother put old memories in the attic, so did Martha.
