Depression Vulnerability Suicide has no boundries its an Equal Opportunity

The presentation we saw on suicided resonates with me especially because I too wrestle with suicidal tendencies.  It  has been a very difficult life for me .   I have been losing the battle with my depression since my childhood.  So I really understand the importance of this concept.  People seldom realize that depression can begin as early as childhood.   Most believe that it's common in teens but out growable, They seldom take teens emotional state seriously.   They tend to discount it to puppy love, or hormones.  They don't  realize that to some these issues are devastatingly serious.  They lose their lives lost and alone, feeling overwhelmed and defeated.  Which is  truly tragic.

I loved the fact that she was open and honest enough to divulge such personal details about her own life,   That took courage, strength, and showed how truly immersed she was with this presentation.   I always find it unbelievable when I find that a person that i wouldn't have thought battled depression has.  She is such a brilliant, funny, fascinating girl i'd of never thought of her battling the monster of depression.  It leaves me wondering how many others I come in contact with on a daily basis suffer or have suffered from depression.  It's a devastating condition that affects every facet of your existence.  I really enjoyed the video as well it handled this issue in a very dignified way with true sensitivity.

The only thing that concerned me about the concept is it didn't take into consideration that not everyone is lucky enough to have emotionally supportive parents.  I as a child I was not blessed with the loving support most children experience.  My depression and suicidal issues stem from the abuse endured at a hand of a parent.  So the idea of these children already in distress, already suicidal, now  being vulnerable to the consequences of their parents knowledge is quite unsettling.   I do however realize and acknowledge that most children do have loving homes with parents who would assist lovingly and tenderly if they were aware of their children's pain.   For those children this would be wonderful but for the children in abusive homes this could  prove detrimental.

I did truly enjoy this presentation and was truly touched by her personal accounts.  I feel that it is a relevant issue that deserves consideration because if one life is saved it's a successful venture.  Once again I marvel at your courage to discuss such a  deep personal issue.  You definitely amazed and encouraged me.
