( in ) humane?

White Bear is a film that features a woman, Victoria, being condemned for a crime so horrible that her humanity would be doubted. She recorded a murder of a little girl, her fiance did the killing but she never stopped it. However, her punishment is physiologically damaging and she was degraded to just an animal. Is that fair? I do not deny her crime and I am all for people paying for what they did, but not in an inhumane way. She should pay and even if so much of her story is unknown. What drove her there? Was it her past that made her commit such crime? She did it but one thing to remember is that she is human.

The people that condemned her are not any better. They say that what she did was inhumane while what they are doing is not humane either. Standing tall because she took someone innocent while they are taking their own and bring their kids into this.Is that not the same thing? Is not justice but is a balance. Is easy to judge once that person is degraded, She is not a human anymore in their minds. That is the only way someone can live with doing this to a person. Sure is fictional and no " real damage" comes, but that is only physically. Emotionally is different for both parties, She might not remember but others will. Kids that can not differentiate between reality and fiction this is being both taught and showed. Instead of creating awareness of this acts and taking precautions so that more Victoria's are created, they are only digging a bigger hole. Will this behavior be OK in later generations? Is that what the world is about.

Victoria the protagonist was clearly not in the best if her faculties in order to do such crimes, and if not then my hope for humanity is gone. In my innocent mind, I believe that Victoria suffers something in order to knowingly committing those crimes. Rehabilitation is not something easy and even impossible. Mind wiping would not work because repress memories will drove her to more mental challenge state. The only hope is professional help without the judgment for her crimes once her crimes have been paid for in a humane way and she will willingly submit to such care. I do not think that going back to society is a solution, There are other ways to be free. I doubt that she will ever stop paying for her crimes, the own soul gets you.

I definitely agree with you, I think what they did to her is inhumane. Its wrong for her to be punished the way she is. I like how you make a point in how they justify (the behavior of) torturing her.I also agree in your point with rehabilitation and how being mind wiped isn't going to help the situation.

While it is true that the crime she committed was a horrible one when she could've stopped it I agree with you. Like you said, how can someone know what is going on subconsciously that drove her to go along with it. For all you know this steamed from a history of abuse or she could've been coursed by her husband. As you mentioned, wiping her memory and summiting her to said torture does NOT benefit either her or the people watching. As you said, they are treating her as merely an animal.

I agree that she was not treated like a human being by they people that were punishing her. I think that no human being should ever be treated how she was no matter what they do. I don't think that any of us have the right to strip someone from their dignity like the people in the video did. And I also agree that she was not in the right mind to begin with if she committed that crime.
