In the episode of White Bear, we are presented with a dilemma in which the main character, Victoria, is disoriented and being video recorded by various strangers while running from strangers with weapons. She is punished perpetually by being psychologically tortured, and this is the form of justice that is being used. I think it is unfair for her to suffer continuously from her punishment. I understand that the punishment that she did as a crime is being reciprocated as a punishment, but the crime was only committed once. She is being punished for who knows how long (maybe even forever), but the crime she did was only committed once, not perpetually. Apart from this fact, I believe that she being punished more than she should. Just because her fiancé died and evaded justice, I think she was punished twice as much as she should have been and moreover I believe that her fiancé deserved a worse punishment. He was just put in jail which was his punishment (although it was short lived), yet he COMMITTED the CRIME, she watched/ recorded (which yes this is bad too, she didn't do anything to help the poor child... but she DID NOT COMMIT a crime, what she did is just morally wrong) and was psychologically tortured for DAYS. This is wrong regardless if she is a "monster" for committing such a crime, she did not deserve a worse crime than her fiancé . I think in order to make up for the fact that her husband evaded justice she was punished more harshly. I also think that the public's reaction magnified the emotions they had towards her.The hate and disgust was magnified significantly just because it was publicly disclosed and everyone was disgusted with her actions.
There is also a flaw in this episode that made me suspicious of the girl with the short hair and the man that "helped" her escape. Psychologically speaking, you help people because its the right think to do or because you hope that if you need help, someone will help you BUT she (the woman with the short hair) does not look like she needs help in the first place, she already has help from the man.She also does not ask for what she can help with in return. In shows where there is an apocalypse such as The Walking Dead, the people that the main characters help usually as other's what they have done/ can bring to the group before letting them become part of the group. The both of them did not question nor think twice about her just abruptly joining them on the run. They just allowed her to join and it made me suspicious about them although the suspicion did not last long.

Victoria did commit a crime, she aided her fiance in committing his crime. But that's besides the point, I overall agree that the idea that her punishment is unjust, but perhaps for different reasons.
I agree with the previous comment on the fact that Victoria did commit a crime. It is called being an accessory to a crime. And, if the flashbacks of her talking to the kid say anything, I would say there were points in the crime where she was actively helping. She was legally and morally responsible for stopping her boyfriend and she didn't. However, I too believe that the punishment was overly harsh. Once, I understand, but the at least 18 days was definitely excessive.
I have to agree with you, Victoria is receiving twice the punishment because she is taking in also the punishment that her husband might've received if he were alive. As you pointed out, her over the top torture was probably brought on by the fact that the story was highly published and maybe, just maybe, her punishment would've been leaser had it not been that way. Regardless her situation was unfair no matter how much or little she contributed to the crime. Altogether, I enjoyed reading your post and your point was well made with reasons to back it up.
I agree with you completely! I think she was unethically and unfairly punished. I don't think it was up to them to determine her punishment. They were not any different from her because they are doing exactly what she did to the child. And I also think that her fiancée escaped his punishment and she got the worst of it.
