Amnesia

So, let us talk about White Bear. Was it cruel and unusual punishment for this lady to suffer over and over for a crime she and her husband committed? In a way, I feel as though she should definitely receive some type of punishment for her crime, but this episode of Black Mirror, shows just how you can take punishment too far. Several parts in this film stood out to me as well. First, why do they have to take her memory away from her after each day is over? What is the point they are trying to prove here? The lady has suffered and has been punished. She does not even get a chance to feel remorseful about her crime because she forgets each day what she actually did to the young girl and what the owners of this park are doing to punish her. I feel like one time is enough and after that they should just throw her in prison. Honestly, they could just not even create a whole park out of it and just should have put her in jail.
Next, someone with a twisted mind had to think of this type of plan. Who in their right mind would create a park to put a criminal in, wipe their memory every day and have people record, stare and laugh at her not knowing what the hell is going on. To me that is just a sick way to punish someone and make a profit at the same time. Yes, she did commit a horrendous crime by being an onlooker to a crime but is this the type of punishment should endure?

Also, why are the onlookers in this film so comfortable seeing this being done to her. It is so weird to me for people to watch someone’s pain of not having a clue of what is happening to them. They basically treated her like an animal from the wild. They did not care about her well-being. They only cared about the entertainment which is so sad. Though this film was somewhat hard to watch, it made me think about the everyday onlookers in life. The one’s who just let things happen to people and record it and post it for other people’s entertainment instead of helping the people out. This type of thing happens every day and people feed into it for the sake of “entertainment”.

I agree with what you are saying. For the onlookers to just watch her punishmenr on and on and not stop at any giving time, make them just like victoria.

It really makes you think if death is a more humane punishment.
